Pictures from last days: reading Flow weekly, breakfast with grapes, new pencils and my mothers old school bag

Same me different house

About two months ago I moved to a city called Eindhoven, at the moment I feel quite at home here although it was sometimes tough to be in a big house without seeing lots of people. I missed the noise  I was used to hear at home and I even missed the questions (I thought I would never miss) "Deborah would you like to play football with me?" and "Deborah, can you walk with the dog outside?". You know I've two younger brothers at home and although they could be really annoying I love them.

Now I'm a first year student at the Design Academy and ready for assignments, projects and hard working. All teachers say (and some 3th year students I met) that the first year is really difficult and you hardly get any time to sleep.. sound's good doesn't it? No, but without joking, I guess they make it difficult to show you that only real good designers can survive. I mean, there are so many persons wanting to earn money by designing but that's easier said than done.

Last weeks we had intro-meetings/workshops/parties and lots of spare time, enough time to take pictures of a lazy day.

I got this lovely vintage alarm clock on my last workday at 19Toen, it was the best place to work! Check out their webshop 19Toen with new and vintage interior design items.

DIY silhouette postcards

If you're good in drawing you can make these postcards quickly.. if you're not that good in drawing silhouettes you can better do it the way I did by making photos.
These postcards are with silhouettes of my younger brother and I, the possibilities of combining colours/patterns/papers are endless so give it a try!

Logos made by templates and paint

Trying out something with templates, I like to cut out things in paper and use the empty spaces to make templates. It's fun to combinate the templates, use the basic colors and make illustrations with it. I'm working on an illustration of a landscape now, I will post it soon. (and sure there will come more illustrations cause I love doing this!)

Interesting designs and creations

Just a little blogpost cause I'm quite busy and packing my backpack for the next holiday. This time I'm going to France, camping with my family for 10 days. Two weeks ago I came back from a holiday in Sweden and in the meantime I went to Eindhoven to prepare my student room. Actually I have two rooms.. together 13m^2 and with my own balcony, great isn't it!
I hope to show you my room when I'm back in August, next weeks there will be no or less blogposts I'm afraid.

Loppis (vintage) in Sweden

In Kullaberg we found many secondhondshops (little farmhouses were friendly grannies sell their collection old stuff), it's unbelievable cheap and if you taak a better look you find lots of good stuff. I found in the corner of a little room beneath a closet this orange typewriter and bought it for 4 euro! I have to say that I maybe bought to much stuff but OK it was my first time in Sweden and I loved everything (be honest, isn't it a nice souvenir as well?).

Roadtrip in stunning Sweden (photos #1)

My sister and I traveled for two weeks in the amazing, surprising and beautiful country Sweden. I had never been there before, my sister had, and I was surprised by the beauty of the nature. We drove for hours on a small road between the hills, seeing nothing than golden wheat fields with here and than a lovely red farm with some horses. The places I can remember we visited were Trelleborg, Ystad, Snogeholm, Falkenberg, Varberg, Helsingborg and the most beautiful place of all: the peninsula Kullaberg. We slept in a little blue tent, stayed at nature campsites (for free!), farm campsites and lawns (just put the money in a envelope).
It was a real adventure I have to say, although we didn't traveled to the North with more raw nature, it was my first time driving outside Holland with only half a year experience and the first time I went on holiday without parents. I was lucky that my sister spook little Swedish, she is good in languages and I'm totally not. Ofcourse I can speak English but you can't expect everybody to speak that too especially the people living on the countryside were sometimes struggling with speaking English.

We really enjoyed every moment of the holiday.. reading books, sunburning on the beach, swimming in the clear aqua sea, buying vintage stuff (so cheap!) and walking trough forests. Sweden we love you!

I will post more photos of Sweden as soos as possible! (Meer foto's volgen)

Some new pencilcases

These pencil cases are made for a colleague (from work), she chose the fabrics + the pattern and I sewed it. I think I would like to have a shop where everybody can chose a pattern and also chose the inside/outside-fabrics and colour of the zipper. Wouldn't that be nice?

This is holiday at home

At the moment I'm on holiday in Sweden with my sister. I typed some messages in June to post when I wouldn't be at home. The pictures are taken in June at an evening that looks like an holiday-evening, I enjoyed every single moment. Sitting around the campfire with the family (+ a scared dog, he's afraid of fire), eating from the BBQ and photographing some flowers. Life is good.

Sewing a bag with hundred pockets

Well, hundred is a bit to much but this bag is really made because of the pockets. The reason for all the pockets is that I love collecting.. collecting many different kinds of stuff but also stuff I find on the beach. This bag is quite useful for long walks on the beach because it's easy to carry, it has different types of pockets and you can easily open and close it (just roll it out on the sand). By the way, I used this sewing-project as a portfolio project and the teachers liked the idea of this bag.
